Career: Professor of English, Syracuse University, New York, 1963- (Assistant Professor, 1953-57; Associate Professor, 1957-63; Director of Graduate Studies in English, 1971-74; Chairman of the English Dept., 1974-79), professor emeritus, 1992. Publications: John Dryden's Imagery, 1962; (with F. B. Millett and D. R. Clark) Reading Poetry, 1968; Congreve's Comedies, 1993. Died 2000.
