Doug's 1st Movie
Doug's 1st Movie ★★★ 1999 (G)
Feature-length version of the children's animated series assumes sequels according to the title, but has problem stretching the storyline over an hour. However, kids who like the series will enjoy the adventures of 12-year-old Doug Funnie and his pal Skeeter as they try to hide the lake monster Herman Melville (so named because he tries to eat a copy of “Moby Dick”) from the clutches of polluting bad guy Mr. Bluff. He also has to impress Patti before the big Valentine's Day Dance. Not overly preachy, but the animation will not impress children used to the glossy Disney style. 77m/C VHS. D: Maurice Joyce; W: Ken Scarborough; M: Mark Watters; V: Guy Had-ley, Eddie Korbich, Thomas McHugh, Fred Newman, Chris Phillips, Constance Shulman, Frank Welker, Alice Playten, Doris Belack, Doug Preis.
