Crimes of Passion
Crimes of Passion ★★★ 1984
Vintage whacked-out Russell, not intended for the kiddies. A business-like fashion designer becomes a kinky prostitute at night. A disturbed street preacher makes her the heroine of his erotic fantasies. A dark terrifying vision of the underground sex world and moral hypocrisy. Sexually explicit and violent, with an extremely black comedic center. Turner's portrayal is honest and believable, Perkins overacts until he nearly gets a nosebleed, but it's all for good effect. Cut for “R” rating to get it in the theatres; this version restores some excised footage. Also available in rated version. 101m/C VHS, DVD . Kathleen Turner, Anthony Perkins, Annie Potts, John Laughlin, Bruce Davison, Norman Burton, Ian Petrella, Gerald S. O'Loughlin; D: Ken Russell; W: Barry Sandler; C: Dick Bush; M: Rick Wakeman. L.A.
