Elizabeth Valois (1602–1644)

Queen of Spain. Name variations: Elizabeth of France; Elizabeth of Valois; Isabella. Born in 1602; died in 1644; daughter of Henry IV, king of France (r. 1589–1610), and Marie de Medici (1573?–1642); sister of Henrietta Maria (1609–1669, who married Charles I, king of England), Christine of France (1606–1663), and Louis XIII, king of France (r. 1610–1643); became first wife of Philip IV (1605–1665), king of Spain (r. 1621–1665), in 1615 (some sources cite 1621); children: Maria Teresa of Spain (1638–1683, first wife of Louis XIV of France). Philip IV's second wife was Maria Anna of Austria (1634–1696).
