Adams, Mary Grace (1898–1984)

English broadcasting pioneer. Born Mary Grace Campin in England in 1898; died in 1984; daughter of Edward Bloxham Campin; educated at Godolphin School, Salisbury, and University College, Cardiff, first class, botany, 1921; married Samuel Vyvyan Adams, in 1925.

Mary Grace Adams was the first woman television producer for the BBC (1936–39). From 1939 to 1941, she was employed as director of Home Intelligence at the Ministry of Information. Adams worked for the North American Service Broadcasting (1942–45); was head of television talk shows, BBC (1948–54); and wrote for Punch. In 1953, she was awarded an Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.).
