At World championships, won the 10,000 meters (1993); set a world record time for the 10,000 of 29:31.78 at National Games (1993), the 1st woman to cover the distance in less than 30 minutes; won a gold medal for the 5,000 meters and a silver medal for the 10,000 meters at Atlanta Olympics (1996); retired (1997). Won the Jesse Owens International Trophy (1994).
