Born around 1225 in Aachen, North Rhine, Westphalia, Germany; died on November 9, 1261, in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, England; buried in Hailes Abbey, Gloucestershire, England; daughter of Beatrice of Savoy (d. 1268) and Raymond Berengar or Berenger IV (some sources cite V), count of Provence and Forcalquier; sister of Eleanor of Provence (1222–1291), Beatrice of Provence (d. 1267), and Margaret of Provence (1221–1295); married Richard (1209–1272), 1st earl of Cornwall and king of the Romans, on November 23, 1243; children: Richard (died days after birth in 1246); Edmund (1249–1300), 2nd earl of Cornwall; Richard (c. 1252–1296). Richard of Cornwall first married Isabel Marshall (1200–1240); his third wife was Beatrice von Falkestein (c. 1253–1277).
