English writer. Name variations: Sarah Ricardo Porter. Born Sarah Ricardo in 1791; died Sept 13, 1862, at West Hill, Wandsworth, England; dau. of Abraham Ricardo; sister of David Ricardo (principal founder of the classical school of political economy); m. George Richardson Porter (1792–1852).
Writer on education, published Conversations on Arithmetic (1830), On Infant Schools for the Upper and Middle Classes (1838), among others; also wrote the children's book, Alfred Dudley, or, the Australian Settlers (1830).
