Mukoda, Kuniko (1929–1981)

Japanese essayist and short-story writer. Born Nov 28, 1929, in Tokyo, Japan; killed in airplane crash, Aug 22, 1981, on a trip to Taiwan.

Began career as a tv scriptwriter; works include My Father's Letter of Apology (1978) and Memory of Cards (1980), about her bout with cancer, for which she won the Naoki Prize; also wrote short stories, The Name of the Flower.
