Jones, Barbara (1937–)

African-American track-and-field athlete. Born Barbara Pearl Jones, Mar 26, 1937, in Chicago, IL; m. Marcellus Slater.

Over 8-year career, won 335 medals and 56 trophies; was national AAU indoor champion in 100-yard dash (1954–55) and national AAU outdoor champion in 100 meters (1953–54); won gold medals in Olympics in 4 × 100 meters (1952 and 1960); was a member of Tennessee Tigerbelles.
