Born in 1214 in Gloucester, Gloucestershire, England; died on December 1, 1241, in Foggia, Italy; buried in Andria, Sicily; daughter of John I Lackland (1166–1216), king of England (r. 1199–1216), and Isabella of Angoulême (1186–1246); became third wife of Frederick II (b. 1194–1250), Holy Roman emperor (r. 1215–1250), on July 15, 1235 (some sources cite July 20); children: Jordan of Germany (b. 1236); Margaret of Germany (1237–1270, who married Albert of Thuringia); Agnes (1237–1237); Henry of Germany (1238–1253), king of Jerusalem. Frederick II's first wife was Constance of Aragon (d. 1222); his second wife was Yolande of Brienne (1212–1228).
Isabella of England was born in 1214 in Gloucester, England, the second daughter and fourth child of John I Lackland, king of England, and Isabella of Angoulême . Isabella of England became the third wife of Frederick II, Holy Roman emperor, on July 15, 1235. Her daughter Margaret of Germany was born in February 1237 and, by marriage with Albert, landgrave of Thuringia, became ancestor of the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha house.
