American pop singer. Name variations: Eydie Gorme. Born Edith Gormezano, Aug 16, 1931, in The Bronx, NY; m. Steve Lawrence (singer), 1957; children: 2, including David Nessim Lawrence.
Began career as a regular on the "Tonight!" Show, starring Steve Allen (1954–57); starred on "The Steve Lawrence-Eydie Gormé Show" (1958) and "Steve and Eydie" (1975); had huge hit single with "Blame It on the Bossa Nova" (1963); albums include Eydie in Love (1958), Gorme Sings Showstoppers (1958), Eydie Gormé on Stage (1959), I Feel So Spanish (1961), Let the Good Times Roll (1963), Don't Go to Strangers (1966), Softly, As I Leave You (1967) and Since I Fell for You (1981); also recorded with husband.
