Edith of Aylesbury (fl. 7th c.)

English nun. Name variations: Saint Edith of Aylesbury; Ealdgyth or Edgyth. Born in Mercia; flourished in mid-7th century; dau. of Penda of Mercia, pagan warrior king, and Cynewise; sister of Wilburga and Edburga of Bicester.

With sister, built a monastery at Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire where they educated their niece St. Osith.
