Born Eleanor Parke Custis in 1779; died in obscurity on her son's farm in the Shenandoah Valley in Mar 1852; dau. of John Parke Custis and Eleanor Calvert Custis; granddau. of George and Martha Washington; m. Lawrence Lewis, Feb 22, 1799 (died 1839); children: Francis Parke Lewis; Agnes Lewis; Angela Lewis (d. 1839); Lorenzo Lewis; and 4 others.
Grew up in the heady atmosphere of the capital, while her step-grandfather George Washington was president of US.
