American actress. Born Aug 26, 1900, in Los Angeles, California; dau. of George M. Cohan (actor, playwright, composer, manager) and Ethel Levey (actress); half-sister of Helen F. Cohan (actress); m. J. William Souther (died 1925); m. H.W. Rowse (div.).

Made stage debut in Manchester, England, as Dinah in Mr. Pim Passes By and London debut in the title role of Peter Pan (both 1919); left for US and appeared in vaudeville; made NY stage debut in the title role of her father's play, Madeleine and the Movies (1922); also appeared in Diplomacy and The Rivals.
