Clerke, Ellen Mary (1840–1906)

Irish-born translator. Born Sept 20, 1840, in Skibbereen, Ireland; died Mar 2, 1906; dau. of John William and Catherine Mary Deasy Clerke; sister of Agnes Mary Clerke (1842–1907).

Wrote poetry, novels, and astronomical pamphlets; published her translation of Italian verse, Fable and Song in Italy (1899).
