Carpenter, Maud (d. 1967)

English theatrical manager. Died June 16, 1967; dau. of George Carpenter; m. David Farrington.

Was connected with the Liverpool Playhouse from its inception as a repertory theater (Nov 1911), as secretary and assistant manager, then licensee and business manager (1923–39), then manager; characterized in Beryl Bainbridge's novel An Awfully Big Adventure and portrayed in the film adaptation by Prunella Scales.
