French actress. Name variations: Martha Brandes. Born Marthe Brunschwig, 1862; died in Paris, France, 1930.
Made stage debut in Paris in Diane de Lys (1884); at Vaudeville Theatre, Paris, appeared as the 1st French Hedda Gabler (Dec 17, 1891); with the Comédie Française, featured in Ruy Blas, L'Aventurière, Patrie, Le Mariage de Figaro, Hernani, Les Tenailles, Cabotins, Grosse fortune, Catharine and L'Enigme. Created a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor (1920).
