Made NY debut at Circle in the Square as Mrs. Winemiller in Summer and Smoke; won acclaim for her portrayal of Grandma in The American Dream; films include A Thousand Clowns, Silkwood, Swingshift, Love Story, Come Back to the Five & Dime, Jimmy Dean and Johnny Dangerously; made frequent tv appearances on "Maude," "Mary Hartman," "The Guiding Light," "Flo" and "Benson"; co-founded The Paper Bag Players, a children's touring group. Won 3 Obies.
