American actress. Born Barbara Angie Rose Baxley, Jan 1, 1923, in Porterville, California; died June 7, 1990, in NYC.
Made NY debut in Private Lives with Tallulah Bankhead; appeared in such films as East of Eden, All Fall Down, No Way to Treat a Lady, Nashville, and as Sally Field's mother in Norma Rae; shared an apartment with Bankhead for years. Nominated for a Tony award for Period of Adjustment (1960).
