Allen, Mary E. (1858–1941)
American photographer. Born in Wapping, Massachusetts, 1858; died Feb 18, 1941, in Deerfield, Massachusetts; sister of Frances S. Allen.
With sister, attended State Normal School in Westfield and obtained a job as a teacher; like sister, began going deaf; turned to photography in order to make a living, specializing in portraits, genre, and scenic views; enjoyed considerable success selling souvenir views of "Old Deerfield" and other scenes of New England life.
