eschatological
eschatological Beliefs about the ‘last things’ and a religious end (and judgement) to the world. They form a significant part of the Judaeo-Christian tradition and tend to be stressed most strongly by fundamentalist and sectarian—especially Adventist—movements. The term is also applied analogically to political and catastrophe-linked movements such as the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. See also MILLENARIANISM.
