disguised wage-workers
disguised wage-workers A workforce that is apparently independent or self-employed, but which is in fact contracted on a piecework or commission basis, by capitalist firms. Examples include outworkers, commission salespersons, and share-cropping peasants. Some Marxists argue that surplus value is expropriated from such workers despite the fact that they are not formally employed as wage-workers.
