Ingrid Daubechies

1954-

Belgian-American mathematician who received her Ph.D. in mathematics from the Free University in Belgium. She held a research position at AT&T Bell Laboratories and later conducted research at Princeton University, where she was first woman professor in the department of mathematics. In 1997 she was awarded the Ruth Lytlle Satter Prize by the American Mathematical Society for her book Ten Lectures on Wavelets. Her research interests are mathematical aspects of time-frequency analysis and wavelets.
