Fritz Pfleumer
German inventor who in 1928 produced a system for recording on paper coated with a magnetizable powdered steel layer. The German manufacturer AEG bought the patent from Pfleumer and by 1935 had developed the magnetophon tape recorder. His patented design was not available until after World War II in the United States.
