American physicist who discovered the antineutrino and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1995. Like many young physicists in the 1940s, Reines worked on the Manhattan Project and continued working for the National Laboratories for several years after the end of World War II. Reines also had a great interest in music, at one time singing in the chorus for a concert of the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra.
