Clopton Havers
Clopton Havers
1655?-1702
English physician who is known for his study of bone structure and growth, as well as his book Osteologia Nova, which was the first publication to describe bone structure in great detail. The intricate vessel system consisting of canals and glands that supplies nutrients in the bones, called the Haversian system, is named after him. Havers graduated with his medical degree from Cambridge University; he practiced medicine in London and was a Fellow of the Royal Society.
