vanadinite Phosphate mineral Pb5(VO4)3Cl and member of the pyromorphite series with pyromorphite (Pb5(PO4)3Cl) and mimetite (Pb5(AsO4)3Cl); sp. gr. 6.88–6.93; hardness 2.5–3.0; hexagonal; orange-red, brownish-red, to yellow; white to yellowish streak; resinous lustre; crystals sharp, hexagonal prisms, but occasionally rounded; no cleavage; found in the oxidized zone of sulphide-ore deposits carrying lead minerals. It can be used as a source of vanadium.
