Triglidae
Triglidae (gurnard; subclass Actinopterygii, order Scorpaeniformes) A family of marine fish that have a large, armoured head, two separate dorsal fins, and, typically, large pectoral fins in which the lower three rays are enlarged and free from the fin membrane. These separate rays are used as feelers for the detection of food. Several species show brilliant colour patterns on the body as well as on the pectoral fins; some species are considered commercially important. There are about 85 species, distributed worldwide in temperate and tropical seas.
