Tarsiiformes (order Primates, suborder Haplorrhini) An infra-order, regarded by some authorities as a suborder (Tarsii or Tarsioidea), comprising the families Omomyidae (extinct tarsier-like primates which lived during the Eocene and Oligocene, some surviving into the Miocene in northern continents) and Tarsiidae (modern tarsiers and their immediate ancestors). In some classifications the tarsioids are included as a group of a larger suborder, the Haplorrhini, which includes also the Anthropoidea.
