Shelford, VictorErnest (1877–1968)An American ecologist, who was primarily responsible for introducing animals into studies of climax communities and the successions leading to them. He was the author of Naturalist's Guide to the Americas (1926), Laboratory and Field Ecology (1926), and The Ecology of North America (1963).
