Rhizobiaceae A family of Gramnegative bacteria in which the cells are typically rod-shaped, and motile with one or more flagella. They are chemo-organotrophic, and can grow only in the presence of air. There are 4 genera, found in soil and in association with plants. Some species form mutually beneficial (symbiotic) associations with plants, while others cause plant diseases.
