Pseudoryx nghetinhensis (saola, spindlehorn, Vu Quang ‘ox’; superfamily Bovoidea, family Bovidae) A new genus and species of antelope-like animal discovered in the early 1990s in the Annamite Mountains, on the northern border between Vietnam and Laos. It is 1 m high, blackish with white markings, and has long, straight, reclined horns that point straight back. It is thought to be related to cattle, buffaloes, and nilgai.
