Moraceae A family of trees and shrubs (except the herb Dorstenia) that produce milky latex. The leaves are simple and spiral, with stipules. The flowers are unisexual, regular, small, and grouped, often on the enlarged receptacle. The fruits are often in infructescences with a fleshy receptacle or fleshy flower parts, and many are edible. There are 48 genera, with about 1200 species, occurring mainly in the tropics and subtropics.
