Ligiidae

Ligiidae (rock slaters, sea slaters; class Malacostraca, order Isopoda) Family of isopods whose members live in middle-and upper-shore regions, hiding during the day in cracks and crevices (e.g. in harbour walls), and beneath stones and seaweed. They are particularly active at night, can run fast when disturbed, and are widely distributed and abundant.
