Lestidae (damselflies; order Odonata, suborder Zygoptera) Ubiquitous family of damselflies, comprising insects which hold their wings partly open when they are at rest. The larvae have elongate labia (see LABIUM), and are typically found in vegetation in still water. More than 180 extant species have been described, with a cosmopolitan distribution.
