Idiacanthidae (black dragonfish; subclass Actinopterygii, order Salmoniformes) A small family of deep-sea fish that have an elongate, eel-like body. The dorsal and anal fins are long, the pectorals are absent in adults. The long chin barbel of Idiacanthus fasciola (dragonfish) is very typical. There are about three species, living world-wide at depths of 100–200 m.
