Hyopsodontidae (superorder Protoungulata, order Condylarthra) An extinct family of Palaeocene and Eocene mammals, mainly N. American but with at least one S. American genus, whose members possessed bunodont, quadritubercular cheek teeth, relating them to the ungulates, but had clawed digits. Hyopsodus was about 30 cm long, and possibly semi-arboreal. Mioclaenus, an earlier genus, had sharp-cusped, creodont-like teeth.
