Eremophila
Eremophila (emu bush; family Myoporaceae) A genus of shrubs and trees that have alternate, entire leaves, often sticky or shiny. The flowers are large, colourful (red or white), tubular, 2-lipped corollas, with the calyx united in a bell-like tube which remains on the fruit. The fruit is a fleshy or dry drupe. Eremophilas are good horticultural plants in hot, dry areas, and E. mitchelli provides useful timber. There are about 180 species, endemic (see ENDEMISM) to Australia.
