Dalbergia (family Leguminosae, subfamily Papilionatae) A genus of trees and woody climbers in which the leaves are usually pinnate. The pod is indehiscent, with 1 to a few seeds. Several species produce the fine cabinet timbers known as rosewood, Brazil tulipwood, and Burma tulipwood. There are about 100 species, occurring in the tropics and subtropics.
