Cimicidae
Cimicidae (order Hemiptera, suborder Heteroptera) Family of bugs comprising several dozen flightless forms which suck the blood of birds and mammals, especially bats, and a few hundred species that are predators of other small arthropods. Cimex lectularius is the bedbug; Oeciacus hirundinis (martin bug) is a nest parasite of birds (especially house martins) that may enter houses and bite humans after its principal hosts have moved to their winter quarters. A few cimicids feed on pollen. They occur in all parts of the world.
