Cepolidae (bandfish; subclass Actinopterygii, order Perciformes) A small family of marine fish that have eel-like bodies, tapering towards the tail, and long dorsal and anal fins which are continuous with the tail fin. They occur at depths of more than 100 m, but also closer inshore in the eastern Atlantic, Indo-Pacific, and off Australia and New Zealand. There are about seven species.
