Bdellovibrio A genus of Gram-negative bacteria which is not assigned to any taxonomic family. The cells are small, curved rods, usually motile with a single flagellum at one end. They are aerobic. They parasitize other bacteria by penetrating them, and then growing and dividing within them. They are found in soil, in freshwater and marine habitats, and in sewage, etc.
