Arthrobacter (order Actinomycetales) A genus of bacteria. The cells undergo a change in form during culture in the laboratory, from roughly spherical to irregularly rod-shaped. They are chemo-organotrophic, and can grow only in the presence of air. They are found chiefly in soil.
