SPIRO, GYÖRGY (1946– ), Hungarian novelist, poet, and literary historian. His volume of essays A közep-kelet-europai dráma ("The Drama in Central-East-Europe," 1986) analyzes the political era. He dealt mainly with historical and Slavonic subjects.
