SEDEH NA?UM

SEDEH NA?UM (Heb. ?????? ??????), kibbutz in northern Israel, on the border of the Harod and Beth-Shean valleys, affiliated with Ha-Kibbutz ha-Me'u?ad. Together with *Nir David, Sedeh Na?um was the first *stockade and tower outpost in the valley. It was founded in 1937 by pioneers from Poland and Austria. In 1970, Sedeh Na?um had 290 inhabitants, increasing to 335 in 2002. Farming was highly intensive and fully irrigated, including plantations and poultry. The kibbutz ran a plastic factory as well. Its name commemorates the Zionist leader Nahum *Sokolowc.
