OSCHINSKY, LAWRENCE

OSCHINSKY, LAWRENCE (1921–1965), U.S. physical anthropologist. Born in New York, he taught physical anthropology at the University of Pennsylvania graduate school of medicine, and from 1956 at Howard University Medical School. His special interest was in the anatomy of the nervous system, the races of Africa and Asia, and human evolution and the physical anthropology of the Eskimos of Siberia and Canada. His books include Most Ancient Eskimos (1964) and Racial Affinities of the Baganda and Other Bantu Tribes of British East Africa (1954).
