NEWMYER, ARTHUR GROVER
NEWMYER, ARTHUR GROVER (1885–1955), U.S. newspaper publisher. Newmyer, born in Washington, became advertising manager of The Washington Times (1906), and national advertising manager of the Munsey newspapers (1909). Going to New Orleans as business manager of The New Orleans Item (1912), he became its publisher in 1927. After a year with Hearst newspapers, he returned to Washington in 1939 as associate publisher and general manager of The Times-Herald.
