Discursive Power
DISCURSIVE POWER
In general, any power of knowledge that acts discursively is a discursive power. A discursive action is one that moves from one point to another because it is unable to grasp a complex whole in a single act (see reasoning). in aristotelianism, the "deliberative imagination" is often called "the discursive power," e.g., by averroËs. As a technical term in thomism, discursive power is a variant phrase used to translate vis cogitativa. This term is more commonly translated as cogitative power or cogitative sense.
