DICKENSON, ROGER, BL.
Priest, martyr; b. Lincoln, England; hanged, drawn, and quartered at Winchester, July 7, 1591. Following his seminary studies at the English College of Rheims, Dickenson was ordained (1583) and returned to England to minister to the spiritual needs of a persecuted flock that was scattered throughout the countryside. He was arrested with Bl. Ralph milner, who acted as his escort as he traveled between villages. They were imprisoned in Winchester jail until their trial and execution. Dickenson was beatified by Pius XI on Dec. 15, 1929.
